All Change at Mendip
« on: December 20, 2018, 04:41:01 PM »
Hi All,

While trawling the internet today I spotted this:

https://www.freightliner.co.uk/news/freightliner-contract-mendip-rail/

So DB have lost yet another contract, and well looks like there is going to be a lot more Green and Yellow / Orange and Black machines visiting previously untouched areas!
But they are acquiring 8 locomotives so at a guess thats going to be the Class 59s that Mendip own.

Ties in with Revolution today announcing the order books are open on the HOAs including the Mendip rail variants, just need Dapol to get the 59s on the go and possibly in a new livery!

The deal does involve taking over the Class 59s, so no doubt they will be repainted and carry the new Freightliner logo as seen on the MWA-B's that have been converted from redundant HHA's. The MWA-B'sI saw this morning were grey with a yellow solebar and the new logo.

Not sure if they will repaint the 59s as it may be part of the agreement to keep them in Mendip livery but with them becoming Freightliner locomotives in the coming only time will tell!
As to the MWA-Bs not honestly sure if they will head down to support this flow as they were planned and the order made for other flows and they have a healthy supply of wagons.
But with 400 of these wagons been converted never say never!
