Thanks for the reminder about Outland Models.

I've found some of their stuff a bit clunky and overscale but can be useful 'fillers' if not suited to the front of the layout.

I know its a cost consideration thing, but Im rather against using poor models of vehicles on layouts, even if they are in the background. I suppose it could be that Im long-sighted, optically speaking, and can spot a bad un at 50 paces. For me they can rather spoil an otherwise remarkable scene where a modeller has gone to great lengths to get both rolling stock and scenics as accurately depicted as possible.

If I could just remember to take my out-of-focus old specs with me to shows perhaps I would not find it such an issue. :). And maybe SWMBO would be less likely to say HOW MUCH?!! :o when I buy another little car that gets put in the little car-park she can hardly notice behind that clump of trees.

these were 7.99 for the set, with a Minitrix tanker and Oxford Mini for comparison. I forgot to ask for 1/148, but assume it would be no problem.

they arrived in 2w from China.

Watch out, it can become a habit very rapidly! There is a lot of interesting stuff on there, as long as you watch out - prices sometimes go higher than mail order or even the high-street, but others can be a complete bargain. I've made over 400 purchases over 13 years, from n-scale sheep to a complete new bathroom suite. In the last few weeks I have bought a brand new answerphone with four cordless handsets for 15, a PECO NG-651 N6.5 tram body kit complete with running Marklin chassis for 35 and a Lyddle End coal drop with a snapped, but easily glued, rear wall for 12.99.

Well actually a brand new toilet, cistern, seat and fill/flush mechanism; matching washbasin; tap and drain; shower base; shower cubicle; thermostatic rainfall/hand-held shower; a chromed brass soap shelf and a shampoo shelf as seven separate purchases from different vendors. All brand new and total cost about 500. The shower valve, head, hose, etc. was 80 and the same one was over 200 at various online shops. On top of that I also bought an electric underfloor heating mat (I was tiling the floor), a chromed towel radiator and valves, an extractor fan, with ducting and light and LED light bulbs.

In the past I've bought insulation (slight seconds) for building my conservatory floor, a complete (wet) underfloor heating kit for the conservatory, satellite TV boxes, tools, quite a few bits of n-gauge stuff, car parts, computers and parts, DVDs, CDs - you name it really.

I've had almost no problems: just a wrongly described SKY+ remote, a seized, 2nd-hand shower pump (needed for temporary use) and a second soap shelf sent instead of the shampoo shelf. The first, EBAY told the seller to refund, the second the seller refunded no problem and the third, the seller told me to keep the soap shelf and sent me the correct one as well.
