Class 28 build (pair)
« on: November 25, 2018, 02:08:06 PM »
I have previously posted the earlier stage on the crowdfunding thread, however time to give it a thread of its own.

To recap the chassis are hybrid Farish Class 31 units with one bogie replaced with a class 20 bogie and a few adjustments made.  I have modified the brushes to insulate them from the chassis and added a Zimo sound chip and speaker.  The entire package is then wrapped in heatproof tape.

The bodies which are 3D FUD have been smoothed, undercoated and block painted.  In addition I added a crust of satin varnish to protect the paint and provide a good base for detail painting and transfers.

I now will leave the paint and varnish to cure as this stops chemical interaction with additional paint layers and makes detail painting much easier.

Looking good, and its great that you are showing all this progress.  I will be a beneficiary of all this thanks to the studious workings of @hailstone.  Going to have to buy him something more than a few pints this time.

Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.
