Port of Enn.....help
« on: August 22, 2016, 09:05:13 PM »
Hi all. Long shot maybe but....a member of our club has acquired the layout Port of Enn and we are trying to coax it back to life. Does anyone have any info on the layout other than that published in model rail. Even better, video footage of in action? We are struggling to make sense of the auto tram working.

an article in last month's Railway Modeller had a tram layout article which mentioned auto tram  working and  gave  a potentially  useful link.

Hi Fraggle I knew the chap that built the layout through my wife's old hobby of line dancing but I'm sorry I don't know anything about the layout ,other than it had a funicular railway a ferry and a band stand and a line dancing shop ,it went to quite a few exhibitions and used to operate very well ,it would be nice if you can get it running again. If my memory serves me right his name was Bill but I can't remember his surname.

The chap's name was Bill Avery, who sadly passed away about 6 years ago. He was a member of the Crawley MRC; perhaps there could be some gain in getting into contact with them for more advice.

Cheers guys. May persue the Crawley angle. We have figured out the tram shuttle....we were looking at the wrong piece of track....

The layout does run....but we are trying to figure out what everything does as there are no instructions or wiring diagrams with it....its fun and frustrating for the guys working on it...

Yes the layout used to run very well the fenicular railway sometimes played up and Bill used to get annoyed if he couldn't get it right ,but he always managed to sort it out before the doors opened .
They were a very nice couple they invited Val down to their  dance club and came to the one Val used to go to a couple of times when the club had a Saturday evening do .
I hope you get it all running again as a tribute to Bill.
