Title: Points mounted underneath too close, ideas?
Post by: mildon49 on August 16, 2019, 09:31:27 PM
Hi,
I have a couple of points which from track level have distance between them but when mounting pl10 motors underneath the ends of each are too close to each other.
This means can’t mount both as would require.
Any ideas or tips on mounting points when they are close together?
Cheers

Any chance of a diagram or photo? I can't envisage quite what you mean when you say "close together"

I had similar with a pair of Seeps. I mounted one with a few washers between it and the board, so as to leave a gap and bent the pin 90° to the side and then 90° upwards again, which gave me enough spacing.

I had that situation with a couple of under-board motors in my fiddleyard.

I offset the motors by using the old style mounting plate (the ones also intended for above-board mounting), a length of copper-clad strip as a slider in the mounting plate, and an L shaped piece of wire soldered to the strip.

Here's a very old and dusty example I've found in my bits box - this is from a previous layout of the 1980s!
