Title: RIP Paul Price, a wonderful Forum member
Post by: Stevie DC on April 29, 2019, 10:54:57 PM
I've just read this on RMWeb posted by Widnes Model Centre.

Quote
It is with great sadness that this blog will go have to go on in our minds and hearts ♥️
Trying to put it into Paulís words and humour. How would he have put it?  I think anyone who read his blogs will know how he would have written it. So have a read of his blogs and laugh with him.

Paul died suddenly on Wednesday 24th April  2019. A giant of a man with an even bigger heart. Taken far too young. What is that they say about the good guys?

The tales he he would tell had me aching with pain. Picture a six feet seven bearded huge male asking the salesman in Curryís to show him how good the light was on a new Hoover he was buying. Even asking if the shop lights could be turned off to see how good the light was. All the while as the young guy is pushing the hoover back and forth with no recognition of Paul humming Freddy  Mercuryís I want to break free.

RIP Paul. Forever in our hearts.

Farewell Mr Price, I will really miss our good humoured banter. I hope that you've found a massive LMS layout up there.

Moderator Comment This has been cut from Paul's last thread so we can all remember a really nice guy. Here's Paul's last thread https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=37325.0 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=37325.0)

My thoughts are with the Domestic Overlord.

Does anyone know how to contact him to transmit our condolences ?

If he is reading Paul's e-mails that might work.

Best regards,

Joe

I read the original post regarding the sad passing of Paul, but for some reason have only just realised that is was our Paul.  :o I enjoyed reading his posts about what he was doing, quite a talented man. RIP Paul.

I'm stunned, I can't believe it. I was only jesting with him on here a few days ago.

I never met the guy, but his sense of humour, helpfulness, encouragement and love of all things railway was  amazing. I was going to PM him in a day or two about a little project I was going to  tackle, because I knew he'd have the answers I needed. I had a lot of fun 'sparring' with him about Jubilees, and whether you could ever have enough of them.

I'll miss his presence on the forum greatly.

Paul illustrates what a wonderful Forum this is, he was openly gay but no one ever took him to task, they accepted him for what he was, an ardent LMS N gauge modeller.  I hope you find a heaven full of Jubilees Paul, you deserve them.  RIP Paul and sympathies to the DO

Paul's funeral will be held at 12 noon on Friday 10th May 2019. St Bedes Church Widnes.

Thought for this evening is of the last time I bumped into him. He was walking two tiny, tiny dogs. I think they were Yorkshire Terriers, I couldn't see properly as they were in Paul's shadow. I asked why he had such small dogs and with that cheesy green he replied "They make me look taller".  ::)

Condolences to his family, friends and relatives.

Hi Barry,

Thanks for sharing when and where Paul's funeral will be held. Also, thank you for one more amusing story about him.

I never got the chance to meet Paul in person (was hopeful for later this year) but he was a fantastic, kind hearted and very funny unique person. The hobby is poorer for his passing and it will miss our light hearted banter.

Unexpected and sad news. As an active contributor to the NGF and the most avid supporter of all things LMS (especially Jubilees) his passing leaves a big hole. He will be missed.

Sad news indeed and my condolences to his family and friends.  I only knew Paul from his posts here on the NGF.  The one thing that has always stuck with me apart from his love of Jubilees was, as Bealman mentioned the train of Elephants. Also the photos of said elephants loose on the layout, the name of which escapes me at present.  RIP Paul.

I feel the same way I felt when I learned of the passing of Andy Calvert.

As well as being a great guy Paul was an inspirational modeller for me in that his speciality (apart from Jubilees) was transforming obselete Farish Poole locos into something special.

Pauls Funeral Details are as follows if anyone is in the area:

Friday 10th May 2019 at 12noon.
St Bedes Church
Appleton Village
Widnes
Cheshire

Half expecting a herd of elephants to be following, not unlikely with the way Paul thought.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Dinosaur in the field on one of his exhibition layouts. He called it his "Doyouthinktheysawus"

Hi all,

Just had the pleasure of speaking to Paul's mum, who rang our shop.

I passed on all your messages and she was comforted by your words. She thanks you all for being such a big part of his life. She will pass your words on to his father, sister and two brothers.
