Title: Stacking frames for blue boxes from JBs Model World
Post by: dannyboy on June 17, 2018, 04:03:05 PM
I realise that these have been mentioned before -

but have to say what a clever thing this is. I have just made two of the units up and it took me all of 5 minutes! The units are quite sturdy in use. I now have 10 boxes in two very portable containers. When I took the boxes to work, I had then in a cardboard box with strapping round them - not any more. .

If you trim about 10mm off one side (or 5mm off either side) they fit rather nicely into IKEA Kalax shelving units...

I messaged him to ask if it was viable to tweak the actual design in future versions, but he pointed out that doing a new mould for them would cost a bomb, so not practical :)

Actual trimming of them is pretty easy as it's relatively soft plastic that cuts nicely with a dremel. You don't lose any rigidity as they're really well (over ;) ) engineered to start with and once you've put them in a Kalax shelf they're ever better supported.

mine arrived yesterday, and I must say I was impressed how well designed the stacking frames are. took maybe 5 minutes to assemble my two, and they are strong and rigid.

as always, the blue boxes with foam inserts were 100%, as you'd expect from Jon.

fast despatch, very well packed, and IMHO exceptional value.
