Title: Graham Farish 371-575A Class 45 Diesel D55
Post by: ScottyStitch on December 08, 2012, 05:14:39 PM
Ive seen this item advertised on a few websites with the following statement:

"Item does not have provision to fit a DCC decoder"

Am I right in thinking that ll this means is that it doesn't have a six pin socket, i.e. it's not DCC ready?

Presumably it can still have a decoder fitted by soldering it in? Anyone have experience of doing and running this locomotive with a soldered decoder?

Many thanks in anticipation.....

Scotty

I have one of these, (being ex Royal Signals radio op myself). They're not ready for DCC but with the right know how they can be converted.

My one is currently with Douglas at Wickness Models being converted (he has a banner on this forum), and just before you ask... £55ish including the chip which can vary a little depending which one you opt for.

If you wanted lights fitted as well then the total price is in-excess of £100. I opted for no lights.

Hopefully mine should be back any day now  :claphappy:

Thanks for that. I ordered one from modelrailwaysdirect today, £58 plus the odd pennies delivered. Seemed like a decent deal to me........
