Iv seen that the largest n gauge model railway is 33 scale miles, over 1,100ft or something like that.
Im just wondering, if we got every model rail club, and n gauge area group to produce 4 modules 4 foot long, could the uk possibly take this record?

James May did the line from Barnstaple to Bideford which was 10 miles in OO and then they re-did it with the 'Great Train race'. So if there's a will, there's a way.

Tell you what, i will send a collective email to n gauge society groups, model rail groups etc and try get intrest, i will also contact peco, bachmann and dapol and see what i get

Have you had any thoughts where this attempt would be made?
I would think indoors would be beneficial as even a slight breeze could cause a derailment.
What size of hall would be required, the transport required, feeding of the hundreds etc
thinking somwhere like warley since its central, got big halls, and food wise not thought about it yet....mind you birmingham nec does have food halls....if its organised properly it could be an n gauge exhibition at the same time, largest n gauge exhibition to be held?
I know I'm going to sound like a right party pooper here but things like this require a lot of organisation and cost (hiring large halls are not cheap etc.) You only have to look at all of the obstacles that James May overcame for his Barnstaple 'railway'.
I think it would be useful if you could develop your thoughts a little bit more. For example, get a list of the things that you would need, think about all of the difficulties and how you might overcome them etc. Once you have done this, then you will be in a better position to contact societies, manufacturers etc because you will be able to present them with a well thought out plan and knock on the head the objections they might have.
It is a good idea though, so I do wish you well with it. Remember, where there's a will, there's a way!
I think Pengy is right to be cautious. It will take a LOT of planning from finding the right venue, to getting everyone together at the same time (and most importantly feeding and watering them). And all that costs money...
On the venue aspect, to put it into perspective, the hall we use for the Hull show, which is by no means small, is just under 200 ft end to end: you're looking for somewhere 6 times that size!
Think you will need an aircraft hanger for that amount of modules.
Surely the N track system was set up for exactly this maybe 20 years ago. 3 tracks entering and leaving each board in exact positions, boards were one of two lengths from memory.
