Did anyone see the Guy Martin TV programme How Britain Worked, last night? It was mainly about re-building a garden in Birmingham, but included a short bit on transporting a "rock" by horse and cart. It then went on to talk about cart horses, and then showed a clip of two horses, line astern, pulling a wagon along the railway track. From the clothing of the railway staff on the platform, it looked early BR. Now need a couple of horses to replace my broken Merchant Navy!

At least they won't slip as badly as the MN
Chance to make it slip would be a fine thing!
will these horses be dcc compatible? (dangled carrot control)
Will make cleaning the track an interesting exercise.

now your just talking a load of cr@p..
I have a photo somewhere in a book of a railway horse "on-shed" just west of Bath Spa station !
Upon nationalisation I believe British Rail inherited over 7000 horses!
They were still shunting yards well into the 1960's.
You seldom see them modelled though...
If you do a google search for 'shunting horse' you will find lots of pictures.
;)
