Hi All
For reviews, guides, news etc. check out my new youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/ngaugeuk?feature=mhum
Please comment or make requests either here or on youtube. I know I'm not a natural performer but I felt youtube was lacking a channel dedicated to uk outline n gauge. More videos will be uploaded soon (provided of course there's sufficient interest ;D )
Cheers

Seems like a great idea to me
A really excellent idea. I look forward to seeing more in due course.

Thanks for the encouragement :) More videos should be up soon. In the meantime I've added a review of the :Dapol: telescopic hood wagons.

I've been enjoying your videos! Great stuff! Have you thought about creating a pod cast with your videos? There are too few video podcasts on model railways on itunes and this would be great material to be able to enjoy in an iPod or similar device. I don't always find YouTube the most relaxing way of watching videos!
BTW...One of the podcasts I enjoy is Model Rail Radio, search on Itunes and it should come up. Does anyone have any British themed podcasts they can recommend?
(Sorry RE for hijacking your post a bit!)

Thanks for the kind words.
No, I hadn't thought of that, could be a very good suggestion. If you have any advice please message me. I'm assuming I can do a podcast with pictures?

Good suggestions, thanks. I'll try and organise some more along those lines.
I have this (probably) mad idea of trying in the future to develop the channel and get occasional guest reviewers, from here and elsewhere, to cover a wider range of subjects. I don't know quite how tricky it would be or whether anyone would be willing to help out but it would make it easier to cover more bases.

Again, a really cool idea! I'm not sure how you add a podcast to itunes...there must be submission guidelines somewhere. But to answer your question, yes, there are 'video' podcasts! :)

I hope that works out RE! Having watched your videos on YouTube, its content that seems like it would be a great fit as an Itunes video podcast! Good luck!
Thats a great channel you have made there buddy, your reviews are very useful and informative . As I review model railways myself, I try to cover all major aspects that what the model has in features. But the quality of your videos is far superior to mine as at the moment I use a standard resolution camera :D.
Do you have any CJM models? As I would like to see some reviews of their locomotives like the Class 89 "Avocet" and the Class 92 "Dyson", I would love to review these models myself, but due to not having a spare £450 on me. I will have to take a pass on this idea at the moment :'(.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I've just been watching your review of the Hornby GNER HST and thought it was really comprehensive. It's great to see Japanese and European outline being reviewed too.
I don't have anything from CJM, like you they're a little beyond my means :smiley-laughing: but you never know in the future..maybe they'll send me something to review ;D Without divulging too many secrets reviews coming up next will be the Farish Jubilee, Dapol Class 58, Class 153 and more

:Class31: :Carriage:
I think to be honest, the only CJM model I would be most likely to review would be a Class 92 when I get round to buying one. Would probably consider a Class 59 in National Power livery, but thats a distant dream ;).
I chosen to cover the Japanese and European rolling stock as my layout, even though its Japanese. I have visitor trains from other parts of the continent that make a regular appearence ;). Just some valuable information and an anti-poaching tactic, its best to keep the rolling stock and train reviews classified until you have compiled the final video and its about to go live. This way you can be among the first reviewer to cover the pros and cons of that piece of rolling stock before someone else ;). Though do keep up with the great reviews and that Tomix Schauffenburg coupling tutorial is a very valuable asset to me as I am going to be fitting my Dapol and Farish MkIII's with them to improve coupling reliability. Also the Farish DMU's that I am planning to obtain will undergo the same treatment.
Thanks
Ash

Hi All
I just wanted to thank everyone who has been watching, commenting etc.
The channel has just passed the 3000 views mark which is great to see for something that is potentially pretty specialist :)
More videos will be added soon. I'm also working on other improvements (better intros, lighting etc)

Love the channel mate! It's so nice when people go to all the trouble of making reviews and videos about our interest in n scale modelling. Keep up the good work!.
I agree. Its a fabulous piece of content and I look forward to catching a new one each time I go online!
Thanks to R31Mark and quinntopia for their kind words. Also to every one who has watched, commented or rated :beers:
Over 5000 views now, which is amazing.

No problem fella! ;).
Keep up with the great reviews!.
Hello All,
I just wanted to express sincere thanks to anyone who has subscribed, commented or even just watched one of the videos on the channel.
This week it's passed both 10,000 views and 100 subscribers and I'm staggered and humbled. Needless to say it gives me lots of energy to do more videos and try and improve them as I do. If anyone has any suggestions, comments or requests then please let me know,
thanks again for all the encouragement, this forum really is the best

It's not that surprising that you've got so many views and subs (including me hehe) when you make such good informative videos. All I can really suggest is some how to vids. Keep up the excellent work! :) Mark.
Ash/RE:
How about that! Two of my favorite YouTube channels in one place! :) Both of you have inspired me to do something similar!
Like Ash/D306Whistler I do a mix of Continental and Japanese, and finding any good information in English is fairly difficult. However, R.E.'s videos are inspiring me to think more British!
Anyhow, I haven't done anything down this road yet, just thinking about it. I hope you two don't mind another voice on the YouTube!
This is my channel currently: http://www.youtube.com/user/mesmerojoe?feature=mhee (http://www.youtube.com/user/mesmerojoe?feature=mhee)
Been very impressed with the latest videos, really high quality.
Any news on what's coming next?

IMO it's about time Dapol and Bachmann stopped this duplication nonsense. The market for British outline stuff is not big enough to justify both companies making the same items, nor does it necessarily make for better quality products.
The mere fact that Chinese toolmakers, injection moulders, painters and assemblers can (sadly) do a better job than the UK at a competitive price is the main reason quality has progressed so much in the last four years or so.
Dapol's biting at the ankles of their much larger competitor and seeking to gain Browny points seems to be done very much for the wrong reasons, and long-term will neither benefit them, Bachmann UK nor us modellers.
If I was MD of these companies I'd bang their heads together in a locked room until they came to their senses and drew up an agreed list of locos to make over, say, the next five years. And I'd make damned sure both lists were entirely different.

On the channel or from the manufacturers..? ;D
Thanks very much for your kind words. In the immediate future you can expect to see reviews of the Dapol Britannia 'Robin Hood' and Farish Class 37 in BR Blue you may have seen a glimpse of in an earlier video, some running in shots of the GF Class 37 and Dapol Class 58 both in Coal Sector, more guides and how-tos, a short series on improving a Farish 4F and the start of a little shelf layout I'm planning to build to demonstrate some techniques.
And lots more...lol Of course if I get any requests that list may change..
hmm.. think I better get started lol

On the channel!
The review of the 37 will be good, still not decided whether I want one or not yet so this may well help. The new layout sounds interesting as well, showing it as some form of step-by-step guide in video form would be quite interesting!

I have already reviewed the new tooling Farish Class 37 in the coal sector livery and you can see that on the channel. The BR Blue is also the new tooling, but does have some differences in lights etc. I wasn't sure whether it would be interesting to viewers because of duplication but have had a couple of requests so will do a separate video.
