Title: Best Paint and Colour to use for Painting Class45
Post by: longbridge on October 30, 2012, 05:25:48 AM
I have a range of BR Green diesels and just one BR Blue Class 45, this Farish loco is a very quiet and smooth running loco but it does not fit into the early 60s era of my new layout.

I don't really want to spray this loco and am considering doing a hand painting job on it , can anyone point me into the right direction for Colour, Brand and Type of paint that would be suitable for this job.

If it wasn't such a fantastic runner I would consider trading it but I am very hesitant to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not do a body swap - you can get 371-575  CL45 BR green " Royal Artilleryman" No D67  for £13.00 from Bob Russell at BRLines  http://www.brlines.com/products.php?section=2. Is this the right period? Check with him that it will fit your chassis.

Don't forget to ask Bob to deduct the VAT [@ 20%] for an export order which usually more than covers the postage. One of the advantages of living in the antipodes  ;) Best, Brian
