Come on then, what did you spend your money on at the N Gauge Show today?
Or are you scared the misses will see?? :P
Since I already have more trains than my fiddle yard can cope with it was just a few scenic bits for me:-
Three Wiking VWs - T25 van, Passat, and Golf
(http://www.sprintexnet.co.uk/Images/TINGS%20VWs.jpg)
Two rather nice Herpa Opel Asconas
(http://www.sprintexnet.co.uk/Images/TINGS%20opel%20ascona.jpg)
And on a visit to Richard (N'Tastic Shop) . . .
Station signs
(http://www.sprintexnet.co.uk/Images/TINGS%20signs.jpg)
Etched security fencing that is just superb
(http://www.sprintexnet.co.uk/Images/TINGS%20fencing.jpg)
Even Mrs Sprintex found something to buy, an Airfix-type kit of the brand new Boeing 747-8 . . .
I've already convinced her we can put working navigation and landing lights in it as she builds it, so long as I don't have to build an N gauge airport for it!!
Paul
Its the sound chip that'll be the tricky bit - especially getting the volume needed
Don't give her ideas!! ;D
Paul
Looks like you both had a great shopping spree Paul, like you I don't think I need to many more locos and need to knock the habit of buying them on the head, its addictive like smoking :help:
I came home with a Farish Class 47 in BR Green and a 6p Jubilee 'Bahamas' which both came from the Farish stand. I also bought myself a rake of MK1 coaches.
No pics at the moment, I'll get some later.
I managed to escape after buying a Grafar Class 20 and a Amtrak Phase III 2 car set. I have had the the Kato F40PH Phase III for ages, now it has summat to pull
I've managed to not go, not buy anything and not buy anything by mail order either, although I may give in on the 20 eventually. I shall look righteous and have a discussion with the wife about the price of entry level electric guitars instead

Fender or Gibson?
I bought some BR Etched arrows, sector transfers and 5 RFd 47's at a bargain price. Shame I couldn't get transfers for the renumbering :(
Lemme see ...
3 Dapol teaks (couldn't find the 1st class coach else there would be 4 !), together with lighting bars and a 5-pack of magnetic couplings ... 2 sets of GF loco crews (SWMBO got those ... ::)) ... 2 sets of card buildings from the NGS stall (SWMBO again ::)) ... 3 GF buildings & 1 Hornby building for the layout (I thought GF had them on discount - boy, did I get a shock ! :o ) ... oh yes, the limited edition Mallard :bounce: . That was a late decision, SWMBO had to agree it :P
Spend double what I thought ... oh well, Mallard is lovely :smiley-laughing:
A Dapol Britannia - couldn't resist.... Think all the modern traction and stipey units are getting to me :bounce:
i was very good at the show...
i only got two vtg telescopic hood ferry wagons and the new 'track tidy' kit from woodland scenics/bachmann...
tim
A Dapol Q1 with early BR crest, five weathered Farish cement wagons, N'spirations8 and bits from N Brass. The Q1 will look good on my North London layout just got to finish it! The trouble with the NLR as someone pointed out to me today, is that it is either in a cutting or on a viaduct. There are too many houses as well but I'm fascinated by the line so will soldier on.
I went with the intention of buying a Pullman Stove R and a Network Rail Snowplough, the NGS didn't have either so instead i bought:
Ixion Foxcote Manor at £55 (already got this so will re-number to 7812)
Dapol Britannia 70000 Britannia and Dapol Britannia 70038 Robin Hood at £60 each! (the brits will have their tenders swapped so 70000 has early emblem as per current livery. 70038 will be re-numbered to 70013 and from the tender swap will have late crest as per current livery)
I may have gone slightly over budget......
Ollie
Right lets see:
Class 24, 46 and 108 twin + 5 x packs of Coach wheels from Bachmann scrum.
Weathered RES 47 from Lychett Manor Models.
10 x White metal MK1 Underframes + V-Hangers and Vac pumps sets from BHE for my Carflats.
Another stock box, to add to the collection, from John Cox.
12 x Ferret Scout cars from PG Models
Oh and renewed my NGS membership for 3 years, to beat the price rise :D :D
I did go slightly over budget, but as I came back with some cash, albeit only £18, I think I may have fooled SWMBO into thinking I was under budget   So please be quiet and don't say anything otherwise I'm in deep doo-doo :uneasy: :uneasy:
Regards
Neal.
An expensive day for me:
2 Farish B1's and a 3MT all purchased as nearly new at a much reduced price! :D
All these locomotives are due to have some drastic things done to them over the next year or so.
Also I purchased one of the 2mm Society's starter packs. Some Easitrack and a wagon kit to play with.
Overall I've got a lot to keep me busy over the coming months!
didn't quite have the budget i'd hoped for... So only bought a few things.
An Atlas Western Maryland SD35 for £40 and a 1/144 F16 fighter for £3, plus a few tools.... Total spend £65.
My bank manager will be pleased...
I managed to get a 4CEP for £70. It had been weathered but I put my own spin on this.
An A1 for £70. When test run at home the mechanism was locking - needed one bearing securing to the chassis block, and now runs great.
The bargain of the show was the Manors at £55. I bought a couple but upon inspection one was falling apart - changed for a Brit at the Cheltenham Models stall. The other is the best one I have.
I caved in and bought a black Hall which will need much weathering etc to make it look less toy-like.
Well I went with £100 and came back with £15! Despite this I came home with a Dapol Britannia - at £60 it was impossible to turn down - even if it has the wrong crest for my era! A couple of Fox transfers will soon sort that out.

My other purchase was an FNA to go with my DRS 37s - well timed as the lights have packed up on 37218, making it the ideal candidate for the second loco.

Somehow methinks the FNA might need a bit of weathering!
Hi,
My wife managed to pick up the last two original liveried green Dapol Class 26s from The Signal Box. Dapol stand also had them but £30 more per loco. Bring on the green 27s!
Andy Hoskins
Falkirk
Got a London midland livery 170 from the farish
Stand for £49 what I thought was a good price but
When I got home and put it on the track it's bouncing off the and sound
Well rough is this gears ? :uneasy:
Hi Dave,
Could be a variety of problems, ranging from bits of glue to split gears to broken/slipped driveshaft. Might be worth a going over at some stage...
Later,
Stu in KOQU.
I was a good boy
Just 2 dapol LMS signals
Dapol gunpowder van ( well got two bought one got one free as it was missing a set of wheels of which I had spares at home )
N gauge society Stove R

Excellent show though
Jon
I came looking for a Class 121 in BR Green and a Mk1 'Hadrian Bar' Pullman, couldn't find either unfortunately, so joined the NGS, bought £65 worth of yard lights, two Southern Lorries, a couple of cars, some Transfers to finish off my 5 BEL driving Cars and about 10 Kestrel Kits to get the scenery moving :D
Way over Budget, but who cares its my hobby
I am amazed at how many "dodgy" items were bought, we're these new or where they heavily reduced because they were classed as seconds. Does not look good for the manufacturer! Or we're they from second hand stalls.
At the model show last month there was a second hand dealer and he wanted $35 each for the old mk1 farish coaches, damaged and with no boxes, reduced to 30 if i bought all sixeven at Australian prices in hobby shops a new blue ribbon only cost around $40ish.
Bart
Both GraFar and Dapol have a 'returns' area of their stands; that's where the scrum usually is. You do take a bit of a risk as, while the units are all supposed to have been checked, repaired and tested, there is no guarantee that they will run cleanly ... But they're usually on a good discount, and peeps can normally sort them out if they need to !
And they do actually have new items at discount too; tend to be end-of-runs I think. Got a Dapol LNER teak buffet car @ £15 :) Beats the hell out of the £25 one of the stalls was trying to shift 'em at !!!
Well,I exercised a little restraint, just as well really.
At TINGS I bought:
A Farish class 20 in br blue,
A Dapol class 156 Sprinter dmu,
A DCC Concepts rolling road,
N'spirations 8,
2 VW vans,
A Dapol catalogue,
A rather lovely lunch as well.
The class 20 runs like a dream as does the sprinter dmu,so all is good.
As for the exercising restraint,I went with the idea of buying what I liked and this was all that I saw at a good price so that was that.
Then on wednesday lunchtime,I'm sat at work when my phone rang in my pocket.I had a sneaky look at the screen and it said Rails of Sheffield.
Once convenient,I listened to the voice mail which Ollie had sent, stating my Dapol class 56's had arrived in stock and were ready for collection. As I stated earlier, its just as well I didn't spend all my money because today I dropped another £170 on these two delightful little chaps. They are now being run in and are absolutely spot on.

Late crest Q1, and a little DCC brain to go inside it (or rather the tender)... lovely little mover, been driving it slowly forwards and backwards and watching how well it compares...
The Bulleid Q1 Class (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS63s97xJBk#).
Neal, try Rail's of Sheffield.I bought mine on Gaugemaster stall at TINGS.When I went over to Ollie's Sheaf layout and showed them what I bought,he laughed at the fact I'd paid 74 quid for a rolling road.Rail's has them at 60.
No wonder he laughed,had my.leg lifted a bit didn't I?

Pete,
Thanks for that, I ordered one from Hattons, even though theirs is £61 it's only £2.00 postage, whereas Rails is £4.00 for anything, so saved myself 1 whole English Pound by using Hattons :D :D

Neal.
Well done fella, one beer token in the bank then!

Great film of the real Q1s. Don't they look big?
Thanks for posting it.
