Title: Bachmann Web site Videos
Post by: Crackerbill on August 18, 2012, 12:49:17 PM
Recently I have found it impossible to open the instructional videos on the Bachmann UK web site.

I made contact with Bachmann, but the return answer was just gobble-de-gook and did not in any way address my query. :jawdropping:
:confused2:   :unimpressed:
I wonder if any other Forum members have or have had the same trouble and whether or not the problem was addressed?  I would be grateful for any advice bearing in mind that I am a silver surfer and don't know much about web sites and such.  :dunce: :help:

Cheers (hick)
Bill

Basically, I think your PC doesn't have the right codecs for the type of video on their website.

In simple terms...

Goto this link and download  and install the full version (Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 9.2.0 FULL ]):

http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htm (http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htm)

I have just tried a couple and they played OK for me  ???

Was it a particular video that was giving you problems or all of them?

John.

Same here, working OK. They are only standard Youtube links so can't be anything too technical  ;)

Works for me using WinXP & Firefox and to my knowledge I haven't downloaded the codecs mentioned by Willerby.

Another thought... Can you post the email reply Bachmann sent you as we might be able to better explain what they suggest?

Thank you for the suggestions, I have downloaded the Codec but it makes no difference.
None of the videos on the Bachmann site work for me, I have tried two different laptops with the same results.  The only common factor being they operate using Windows 7.
The videos were available on my previous laptop operating Windows Vista, and on my old desk top operating windows XP.
Strange  :confused1: :confused2:
Thanks once again for your trouble
Bill
Oh I forgot, can't post the reply from Bachmann as I can't find it.    I know I didn't delete it, so if it rematerialises....  I'm not usually this vague. :-[
Cheers

I am running Windows 7 and they worked for me.

This next question is not meant to be offensive but it is sometimes the simplest things that we miss.
When you downloaded the codecs did you unzip and install them?

cheers John.

Thank you all for your kind replies and suggestions.
I have now uninstalled the codec as it obviously doesn't heip on any of my machines.  Maybe it is something to do with a conflict through my Virgin Media system. I did however, use the same supplier with my old machines!!!
I can still access the videos through Google (mad), so they are still available to me, albeit not so quick as selecting from a menu.

Oh well  :headbutt:

It will not have anything to do with your Virgin Media System.

Do you have Adobe Flash Payer installed?  :hmmm:

I have a sneaky suspicion this is the problem, you can download it free here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html (http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html)

I really hope this solves your problem as I am not letting this one drop till you are sorted out

cheers John.

Sorry, Adobe Flash player is installed and I always allow the upgrades.
Cheers
Bill

PS. Incidently, I noted that two videos now actually work, since my original post - The 00 Midland Pullman and the Bluebell Railway - lots of blue!!

Further to the Bachmann video saga.
I can now access all the videos -  :claphappy: :claphappy:
I have not made any changes to my computer/systems since trying out the kind suggestions made on this Forum which did not work.

More to the point they (Bachmann) seem to have updated since the last time I looked (using google) - more explanations.  Also there seems to be an lot more videos in the list.
Maybe Bachmann were updating when I tried before!!!
Oh well whatever the reason things are back to "normal" now.

Cheers all
Bill
