Title: Nature's scratchbuilder
Post by: Newportnobby on August 07, 2012, 09:17:45 PM
While I was at work today this little spider created this work of art. It wasn't there this morning.

Rather beautiful. :)

Wish we could train them to produce overhead wires or fences

A perfect spiders web, you don't see them very often but I take my hat off to those clever and industrious little creatures and hope he/she catches loads of Flys, nice photo Mike

If you can catch them in the morning with dew on them they are wonderous sights.
Your excellent photograph would be brilliant like that.
Thank you for posting it

cheers John.

Excellent photo, but I don't reckon it was one spider. She must have had a team of navvies in

I'd like a bird-feeder complete with goldfinches and greenfinches. And blackbirds, thrushes, wagtails, chaffinches and robins for the gardens.

Pengy already has plenty of worms (the multi coloured type >:D) :D

Back to the spider - something demolished half the web yesterday. I watched it repairing it tonight and it was tazzing round a 3" radius web, making a complete circuit every 90 seconds.
An hour later the web was finished and it is even more closely knit than the first one.
I think it was knackered after that
