Title: New supplier of etched brass nameplates
Post by: davieb on July 29, 2012, 09:10:52 PM
hi all

today i have been to an exhibition near Stoke it was a good event with several 'N' gauge layouts

also in attendance was Lychett Manor Models / Gem Fleetline
and as i browsed their stall i came across the new range of Nameplates in etched brass
they look to be of good quality with crisp etching but the only slight drawback is they come unpainted

they are not on the website but if you contact them direct they will be able to sort you out

http://www.lytchettmanor.co.uk/ (http://www.lytchettmanor.co.uk/)

and while i was there one chap was asking for a set of plates for a "patriot" and was told that they where not in the range
but if he sent details of the Loco name and number they could get him a set made to order  ;)

the cost of the plates are around about £4 a set although prices do vary on the size and design

so this could be very helpful for those of us that wish to change the identity of our Locos

no connection to the seller exept being a happy customer

dave

Sounds good for custom plates. I have not tried painting nameplates before, it is one of those things where I would prefer pre-painted given the option. Still, more choice is always welcome as I have a couple of locos I would like to renumber.

i painted the plates on my "never say die" project and found it easy to do  :)

all you need to do is paint the plates as normal then when the paint has dried just give the plates a careful rub over with a
Fibreglass "pencil" to remove any paint on the raised detail
