Hi all,
I'm about to brave weathering my track, but I'm after some advise - enamel or acrylic?
I'm planning to use Railmatch sleeper grime. Track is not ballasted yet. I will likely weather the track again once ballasted.
But, I'm at a cross road. Do I go enamel or acrylic?
Many thanks
Mac
The sleeper grime I use (ref 1406) is enamel but I don't know whether it's better than an acrylic
I prefer the enamel as it seems to cover better

I've used both without big problems but the enamel seems to bond noticeably better to Kato track.
Thanks all, enamel it is :)
Yup, enamel sticks better to the metal rail and the shiny plastic Peco use for their sleepers. I've used various blends over the years, most recently I took the simple option and used a rattle can of Sleeper Grime all over before ballasting.
After ballasting I use light sprays of brown, black, even dark green to suit the location - eg. where brake dust accumulates in stations, oil/coal black in depots, a bit of weed/moss on old sidings.
