Agreed,there are plenty of threads here that are of no interest to me so I just ignore them and I've never felt the need to tell everyone why or make sarcastic posts.

The original thread was started as an anti-WC moan, and very much continued in that vein. All very British: to start a conversation on a non-football forum, simply to inform the World that "I have no interest in this WC". Was a different outcome expected by the OP?
Personally I found it very entertaining — on par with the finest traditional pantomime.
With the women's T20 world cup on and regular mountain bike racing called world cups perhaps the title needs changing to the FIFA Mens World Cup 2026 :D
With time difference, I may watch some of the 8pm kick offs. I don't know why but very much lost enjoyment of football in past few years, probably due to the lack of "clear and obvious" use of VAR rather use for any possible miniscule decision.
It will be interesting to see with more countries competing what effect that has, noting now double the number from 1990.

My wife says I seem to have a knack of influencing games by turning on during a game, as invariably someone scores within a minute or two. Turned onto Ecuador last night as they were setting up a corner......just saying!

Not the world's biggest footie fan, but we both watched last night's game. DR Congo were, on the whole, excellent, their keeper was incredible. As for England, I think we lacked a little something, and took far too long to get going. Kane did his usual trick of appearing to do nothing for the entire match, until he did, well, something. His second goal was immaculate, I thought.

As it happens, the infamous Antonio Rattin died last Saturday at the age of 89. After his playing career he was a not very successful coach, and more recently had been a National Deputy (equivalent of our MP) in the Argentine parliament, but over here he'll always be remembered for his Wembley strop in 66. And in other news, Rugby Union, England beat Argentina (just) 31-24 in a very scrappy and ill disciplined game.
The French lack of interest in the game was slightly less than ours. Rice scored a cracker but barely celebrated which said it all about the match no one ever wants to play.
Conceding only 1 goal in the entire tournament is testament to Spain. A good job done.
Agreed, I am pleased that Spain won but I only watched a bit of the game live.
