Hattons are listing the data and generator / staff carriages for the structure gauging train as new releases today !
how is that for timing :evil:
Meh! :D
Farish have disappointed me on this one. Their catalogue/website clearly states these are blue riband style Mk1s where-as the pics on Hattons site show them as the old style printed bodyside ones. I have since cancelled my pre-order as all my Mk1s are the newer style

Yes - I saw it and it looked quite poor with not too much effort really. It's only any good for those modelling the SGT as it is now and not when it was called the Optical Car. I think it was a cheap way of using an old mould on the Network Rail band wagon.
Hi Gang;
I can see these being discounted quite heavily in the next few months as I am sure many will share everyone's perception of a retrograde step in printing on clear bodyshells after the excellent Blue Riband Mk1s. I also have replaced (virtually) all my Mk1s with Blue Riband versions.
However, looking at the window spacings/infills etc....I could see that Bachmann had no other option than to go down this path....better an attempt than ignoring a prototype completely. It just shows how quickly we move our modelling goalposts!!
Later;

To be fair, the ones they had on display when they first announced them were printed on clear - one-off tools for specialist rebuilds like this are unlikely to happen! What might have made them more acceptable would be having the much better detailed underframe fitted.

I'm hardly surprised as it would need a special moulding just for the generator, plus really the roof is different but seems not to be on their model, and the generator underframe is different. Not sure why it got labelled as blue ribband, seems a good way to tarnish a mark ? screw-up perhaps.
I wasn't going to buy one anyway however as I've already built one 8)

I bought the Generator Van (374-040) as this was done to the new blue riband standard. I know there are many errors in comparison to the real one but it looks fine to me, the bit i am disappointed with is the mis-label of the other two so the rake of three has one high spec coach and two low spec ones

I am quite surprised that Farish didn't decide to modify the clear bodyshell tooling to go on the new chassis, that would have allowed the best of both worlds. Still, it is nice to see them attempt something different.
again Adam cost for even retailing the under frame to fit would be costly

Hi
I think I will continue to stick etched sides on to the older coaches to build the RTC stock.
Cheers
Paul
with the amount off Adams sides i have used so far im going to keep using them
