Title: Is The Spotters Guide to British Locomotives in N Gauge availabe anywhere?
Post by: chipperuk on September 14, 2025, 04:51:23 PM
Does anyone know if The Spotters Guide to British Locomotives in N Gauge book is available anywhere. The EnGee website says it was due to be updated again in September after a break of a few months but still seems to be paused with no updates. I was hoping to be able to pick up a copy, even an old one, but can't find one anywhere.

Thanks if anyone can point me in the right direction or even better has a copy for sale.

Looking at the wording of the announcement, and the tangible lack of activity, I would suspect the 2025 edition has not actually been published.

All we can do is hope the publisher recovers his health.

The Spotter's Guide to British Locomotives was originally published in 2020 by Engee Publishing.

An updated version was published dated 2025 (I bought mine at the end of 2024).

As far as I know, there are no current plans to produce another updated version in the near future (I do not see anything on the web-site about this unless I missed it).

The Engee Publishing web-site states that the company/web-site will be closed temporarily from May 12, 2025 until September 1, 2025.  It is obviously past that date now, but there are no further updates on the web-site.

I know that an annual edition of N Gauge Now was planned but no further details are available.

It looks like copies of the 2025 Spotter's Guide are still available.

I suggest you contact Howard Foy at:

engeepublishing@gmail.com

and ask if you can buy a copy.  He may be willing to a do one-off deal even though is web-site is still on hiatus.

I did email but nothing back yet. Hopefully all is well and as you suggest he will be able to offer the book again soon. I was just thinking of the 2025 issue that has already been published, just haven't managed to find a copy available yet.

I received a helpful email from Howard at EnGee Publishing today to say that while the website is still paused for a little while longer they should be back very soon with the website and online shop. I am very please that this means I can pick up the latest (2024) issue of the Spotters Guide to British Locomotives in N Gauge, but just wanted to let everyone here know in case there is anything you also want.
