Title: Farish older Prairie
Post by: geofff on August 06, 2025, 05:38:27 PM
Hello

I purchased a Poole Prairie and it stops on every point. Is there an obvious fault or does it need a professional to check over? Would it be sensible to get a coreless motor fitted?

Regards

A coreless motor isn't going to help at all with stalling unless it's fitted with a flywheel. There's nothing particularly wrong with the Farish open frame motor, indeed it's easier to service than a coreless.

The symptoms strongly imply a pickup problem. Clean the wheels and test they're are all picking up power - a pair of wires from the controller (on half power)  to each pair of driving wheels in turn. The pickup wipers can be adjusted (delicately), usually best to drop the wheels out to do that.

Check the model sits flat on a piece of glass (no chassis twist).

Hello NTPNTPNTP, many thanks for the advice. I'll have my first attempt at repairs.
