In the 'news' section there is a review of the new Farish Standard 5 (can't wait for mine to come). There is also a pic of the latest Class 26 from Dapol which includes the Eastern Region version in green with white stripe D5307. I want it, I gotta have it, but none of the main shifters have it on their sites yet.
For anyone wanting N gauge canal boats there are pictures of the MT Miniatures range, and there is lots of Hornby stuff that desperately needs the shrink ray.
Plus a very nice pull-out about modelling the GWR. Just wonder if other regions will be subject to a pull out in later months.
Be interested in your opinion on the loco. I have an older one and am thinking of buying one. I read the review, but value your opinion when you get your hands on it.

That will be a 'no' then :( Railway Modeller has (IMHO) always been and always will be GWR influenced. I know a lot of this is down to what they are given by the readership but I would bet that if you had a Scottish layout and I had a GWR one of the same standard, mine would be the one to be featured :(

Nah, I can't agree there. IMO they're are pretty fair on the big four and, now, more modern stuff especially since the current editor took over. I know him and he's not a GWR man. Besides, what they are infamous for having always been influenced by, and still seem to be to some extent, is
'narra gauge'. ;)

Each to their own opinion, H, but the question from Elmo was whether there would be a similar pull out on other regions at some stage. I'm not a betting man but I would put money on 'no' being the answer.

I appreciate Elmo asked a question but I was responding to your assertion that RM is GWR influenced.
However, if you'd like my comment/answer to Elmo's question, then bearing in mind that supplements are becoming de rigeur for the mainstream mags, RM has set itself up nicely to cover all groups and perhaps later companies (TOCs) in future issues, so I wouldn't rule it out. It could even be considered they're following N'spirations which has covered NSE, GWR, SWT and now SR (although not as pull-out supplements). ;D

Let's hope you're blazing the trail, then
Must say I looked through RM in Smiths and wasn't impressed this month :-\
In fact, for the first time ever I bought BRM which looked quite interesting :)

RM had two N gauge layouts and an N gauge wagon building article - much more N than any other mag. The rest was very eclectic but interesting.
H.
Doesn't necessarily have to be N gauge to be interesting ;)
Personally wagon-building holds no interest for me at all, and the layouts didn't float my boat (or trundle my train? ;D ) either from a quick glance at the pictures. I could be completely wrong, and apologies if any of these articles relate to anyone on here, but I very rarely buy magazines anyway and I'm pretty choosy when I do - a quick flick through just didn't "grab me" ;)
Now I'm off to wash my mouth out with soap after my opening statement in this post :-X :smiley-laughing:

That's right, that's why I said the other articles (IMO) were eclectic and interesting.
But, of course, it's all relative and what individuals find interesting and stimulating. I do agree about the layouts - they didn't exactly float my boat either but the small one ought to be valuable learning for begineers.
H.
Totally agree :)
I tend to buy the CD-Rom Annual every year anyway so I still get all the articles eventually, only buy the mag if there's something in there I'm too impatient to wait for ;D
Paul
So you are the one standing in the way in the newsagents, looking at all the mags but not buying any! Must admit I do the same, but the best newsagent in Sutton in Ashfield (Portland Square) has such a narrow aisle by the rail and motorbike mags, that browsing is not really possible - and he stocks every one worth looking at.
