Who can't wait for one of these?  I already have one from a kit, but the minitrix motor is terrible.  I'll be getting my hands on one and will paint it into 03 179 Network SouthEast livery.

In fact, I just found a picture whilst looking for something else......excuse the 00 Gauge motor in front please!  This is before I added the chimney and windows.

And another one...   ;D

I would need to DCC it too. I've seen the 04 chipped, so hopefully this can be done as well.

Just purchased the plain green one with gold window surrounds. Looks fantastic. It was a tossup between this and a 101 and this won.

Blue one is superb as well. A spot of Rail Blue on the cab handrail knobs improves the appearance even more. Just need to find a suitable match truck now.

Are there any pics of 03 match trucks? If it's the usual BR repurposing of old rolling stock then it should be a simple repaint or slight tweak to a model.

From what I've been able to find out, the BR Conflat L was used as a match truck for the 03s, to allow them to work track circuits over long turnouts. This was the conflat that carried 3 small containers which, I think, Farish now sell.

There's a whole stash of info on this page from an O Gauge forum:

The Conflat L was a specialist cement wagon, the three containers (for cement (or similar powder) being much smaller than the AF containers Farish sell. Tri-ang used to make them on both 00 and TT. A few Conflat A wagons were also used as runners; that is the same as the Farish model (minus container, of course).

The new 03 on Elvinley. Definitely my favourite livery!
