I've noticed that Farish are doing a couple of Blue Riband Merchant Navy's (re-tooled?) which are also shown as DCC ready, does anyone know whether they're using a tender drive or a loco mechanism. I did read somewhere that some of the new Farish releases are to use a new loco body drive mechanism (or was I dreaming!) which should leave the tender free to add sound etc.
Any info most graciously received, thanks.
Caz
Hi Caz,
Not sure about the spam cans, but the new Austerity is definitely body drive.
Personally, I'm waiting to see what Dapols BoB/WC spam cans will be like
Hope they do I am a Spam Can nut ;D
Hi, it was announced as loco drive with 6 pin DCC socket in the tender.
Steve
wish some of the dapol locos where loco driven not tender makes it better converting to have sound, and more choice of decoder.

Brilliant, that's just what I was hoping, with any luck we'll be able to shoehorn some sound in :beers:

I thought I'd read somewhere that some of the locos were going to use body drive motors, not sure I'll buy one of these as they are a bit ugly but not as bad as the Q1. Only good looking locos are allowed on my layout :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing:

If it was a nice fresh Cromer dressed one I'd be very interested.
I didn't know there was a train called a Crab so had to Google. Is this it?

I don't think it is half as ugly as the Q1 or the Spam Can although beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I also only want good looking trains on my layout too.

That's the Crab alright ;D
Reeling from you thinking the Spam Cann is ugly, though :(

Just as well we all have our likes/dislikes - we don't want to make it too easy for the manufacturers
