Not sure exactly what you're referring to?   I must admit I've never used any links at the bottom of the page, everything I need is at the top :)   What links do you use that were at the bottom?

Are you referring to the task bar on the computer, rather than the forum web pages?

Windows, Apple, Android?   So the task bar is there but totally empty?   Try restarting the computer?

Sounds like the task bar.

Go to the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and restart "Windows Explorer" under processes. Should bring it back.

Restarting should also solve it.

Have you checked that the taskbar hasn't been automatically hidden? Move the cursor to the bottom of the screen and, if it has, the taskbar should pop up.

Just to make sure it hasn't been moved as well, try moving the cursor to the top and to each side of the screen to see if the taskbar appears.

If that works, right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and select "Taskbar Settings". Make sure that "Automatically hide the taskbar" is turned off.

Hi

Have you hidden the task bar by accident?

Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen and see if it pops up. If so right click on it and one of the menu items should show hide as ticked. Untick it and the taskbar should come back.

Pressing the windows key on the keyboard should bring up the windows menu.

Do you have any desktop icons? If so you could try ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager. Under the file menu choose run and type in explorer this should restart the windows explorer that also contains the desktop icons.

Cheers

Paul

THANK YOU to all of you, still not sure what exactly fixed it, but assume the collective knowledge of this amazing forum.

It may have been the subliminal message I sent along the A342, A303, then onto the M3, turned right onto the M25, sat at the A3 junction for a while, then eventually down the A23. Either that or the Ctrl/Alt/Del and Task Manager option. Glad it's sorted anyway

Seems my Internet provider has blacklisted the forum to the extent I've not had access for a couple of days. This involved both my phone and laptop. I even installed another Web browser on my laptop but got no result. Tank has been hugely supportive and finally suggested I turn WiFi off on my phone and straight away I accessed the forum  ???

That's weird, you must've posted this on your PC, then. So you can't post on your phone? How come your WhatsApp works?

Don't know if anybody else had a service error 503, no service temporarily at 7pm for 5 minutes but patience and then all worked all OK

You have it the wrong way round. I can't use my laptop for the forum but can use my phone. Don't ask me how.
I can access any other site from my laptop

Not using a VPN are you Mick? I've heard they can often cause issues like yours especially if the IP address of the forum has changed possibly from the reboot.

In the last few days I suffered a malfunction in my BT router whereby just the NGF site kept timing out. All other sites worked perfectly, yet both on my mobile and my laptop the forum would not connect ???
Following a suggestion from 'The Boss' I disconnected my phone from the router and immediately accessed the forum. As all other sites were not an issue, this suggested a problem with BT/EE and their router. They were not exactly helpful, suggesting the forum licence had maybe expired and insisting nothing was down to them. Finally, I turned off the router Friday night, turned it back on Saturday morning and, behold, all was fine with the world and the NGF.
Would a router block one particular website? I don't know.
Do I trust BT/EE? Not one jot. Surely the first thing a tech helpline would suggest is "have you switched it off and back on again?"
Anyway, all is well now........................until the next time :uneasy:
