Her is my latest purchase. I didn't post it in the other message categories because there is both British and Japanese equipment. Yes, I model both (plus American). This train is special as it is for neither my British nor Japanese layouts but for a small Christmas tree layout. That layout sits on top of a bookshelf in the living room of my home just over the Holidays. I purchased the 2024 Kato Pocket Line Christmas train which includes a dummy steam locomotive, gondola and passenger car decorated somewhat festively. The motive power is actually in the passenger car, well hidden. The gondola is a Japanese prototype but the locomotive and the passenger car seem to be generic. Pocket line is intended to be budget minded so no lighting. I decided it needed a little upgrade so I took the gondola out and added a Peco Christmas boxcar (van) which I believe is the 2023 edition. I acquired some details from Miniprints (in Canada). They are a Santa Claus figure, his sleigh and wreaths. I put Santa waving from the cab of the locomotive and his sleigh I mounted on an old Peco flat car. I had this from a group of cars that I bought used months ago. I painted it a festive green and removed the swivel bracket for logs. The passenger car got wreaths on each side as I have seen some tourist railways do at this time of year.
I am thinking of adding another figure to the cab as a fireman, perhaps an elf.
