Post by: Good1912 on December 01, 2023, 06:20:14 PM
Hi
First time post
I am looking for some direction and help.
Does anybody know where I can buy the replacement Pcb for Kato trains to swap from dc to dcc
Any info will be very helpful

Thanks

Digitrax do drop in replacement PCBs, they are entire PCB boards and not decoders like we are used to, if you look up DCC PCB for the engine you need a list of places with them in stock will come up, be prepared for overseas results from Japan and the US though.

Might help to state which loco models specifically?

I don't run American N which is probably the main use for full PCB board replacements, but I seem to recall Digitrax are one of the makers of full boards for Kato so look for a Digitrax dealer? Possibly also NCE?

A google search for DCC and the Kato model number may find some suitable boards and dealers selling them?

[edit] I see @Intercity wrote pretty much the same thing while I was typing :)

Try Digitrains or Coastal DCC for the Digitrax replacement DCC PCB to fit Kato models like the original Eurostar.

Sunningwell Command Control www.scc4dcc.co.uk are Digitrax agents. Both proprietors are American modellers.

As we don't yet know where the OP lives we don't know if suggesting UK shops is relevant?   That's why I suggested a bit of googling may be a good idea :)

You need the Digitrax DN163K0B for the Eurostar. It's not a trivial install - you'll have to swap the LEDs around on the board, and then it's thicker than the Kato PCB, so getting the clip for the motor contacts in is awkward, and then the body won't sit flush without modification.

Coastal DCC have them in stock: https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/digitrax/dn163k0b-n-decoder-for-kato-n-f3a-b
