I have Br Green Flying Scotsman, Garter Blue Mallard and Silver Link(repainted Silver king).
BR Blue Sir Nigel Gresley...
Well, gonna repaint Minitrix's Nigel.
Although it is older than me, Its quality is good.
I'm almost excited for these SNG in BR Blue with Adam on the graphics is promising, still tempted by Flying Scotsman in BR Green.
However due in Q4 2024, at the same reported time as the much waited for BoB/West Country and the GWR mogul at best part £160 to £200 per engine I can't see me getting the six I'd like :(

Dapol's engines prices are getting high..
That is inflation and all its influencers and they are comparable with others.
Yeah I think looking at the prices they stayed level for a long time, there is no way that could continue especially with everything else increasing in price as it has.
Guess if you want detailed hand finished products you have to pay for them.
I do miss the Dapol monthly specials on the website got many a bargain that way.

Well, I'll gonna wait for hattons
Since I'n foreigner, they remove taxes
Dapol had good reductions on new locos at TINGS. Problem was the ones I wanted were not available!

According to information on the Dapol stand yesterday, Quarter 4 2024. As tooling hasn't started yet I wonder if that may be somewhat optimistic.

2S-008-019A4 Valanced Kestrel 4485 LNER Green
That's an interesting livery variation with the straight line colour separation instead of the familiar parabolic curve. And as Dapol only made one A4 in apple green before:
But this is disappointing:

2S-008-020A4 Mallard 4468 NE Wartime Black
Exactly that Mallard in wartime black has already been produced by Dapol as a "numbered, strictly limited edition made exclusively for Modellbahn Union" – and, to be honest, I find it totally unacceptable that the very same model will be re-released as a standard edition. :veryangry:

There have been more than enough Mallards from Dapol already – garter blue no. 4468, wartime black, garter blue no. 22, BR blue, BR lined green – have I missed one? Why not make another A4 in wartime black? There should be 34 other locomotives left over for wartime black paint other than Mallard again!
I've always fancied an A3 in BR ultramarine but this is hard to model as was seen with the limited edition A4 (which I sadly missed out on).

Have to agree with that. If not, call it an 'exclusive until we do another run' ::)
Not clever, and I'd be mad as hell, too.
In the meantime, here's Nigel wearing black............

Dragging this topic up as can't see the point in starting a new topic...
But why on earth are they doing certain locos only with coaches? Are they struggling to shift teaks or something?
A garter blue mallard is high on my want list but I don't really want the coaches, I could sell them after but it seems like a chew!
I could understand it if they offered the loco alone or as a "value pack" with the coaches

A garter blue Mallard has been done already just a few years ago (item 2S-008-008), so why didn't you buy it then or look at ebay for one? They are not that rare, the last one on ebay sold on June 2 for about £120.
I still find more questionable that Dapol seems to love to duplicate models: The wartime black Mallard I have mentioned above – and this still bothers me most! –, but also the Mallard in the new set seems to be identical to the already released one. ::)
Dapol could at least add the record run plaque to the new one, so that it would still be a pre-war livery but after the record run – and also suitable as the current museum locomotive.
Maybe
@Adam1701D can shed some light on the decisions made – I have already commented under the Dapol blog entry but my comment was not approved (or even read?) and thus is not shown, and also no private discussion (you have to provide an e-mail address to comment there) was possible.

The speed plaques were fitted to Mallard in the post war period, she only ever carried them with valances from 1963 when she went on display in Clapham museum then York. I intend to fit the plaques to my model as it is supposed to be as she was doing railtours in the 80's.
So I am not sure speed plaques and teaks would be the right combo

I wasn't in the market for one when they released them a few years ago... And I don't really want to pay £120 for a second hand one with no warranty, when I could wait and get one for ~£150 (without coaches) which is brand new and has a warranty.
I'm not even bothered about it being Mallard, anything garter blue with valances would be fine really.
But to just limit one livery to an expensive coach pack seems a bit of an odd decision to me, especially when it's (I'd guess!) one of the more popular liveries...
@eddief83 Oh, thank you – I always thought that the plaques were fitted right after the record but it looks like you are right and they were fitted post-war (Wikipedia says in 1948, so already under BR).

No problem, I did think it was BR Days but wasn't certain. I do know that originally the LNER only claimed 125MPH as the 126MPH is a small section on the roll from the dynamometer car's recordings of the run
