Which Farish steam locos will be released with engine drive rather than tender drive?
Any release dates yet?

Hi Allan

So far, definites are the 5MT and WD (Delivery pretty imminent from all accounts) then later the Duchess and Unrebuilt Merchant Navy.

I am not sure about the J39 and Ivatt 2MT, hopefully engineering prototypes will be at TINGS in September and we will find out a bit more then.

Personally I am not overly concerned about whether locos are tender-drive or otherwise, my experience with Farish tender-drives has been excellent, but that said, this new coreless motor and loco-drive mechanism have been very well received in the reviews in two mags I have so far read and the WD that was running at the NGS AGM was very smooth and quiet.

Regards

Roy

Hi Allan,

The WD is driven by a motor fitted in the firebox driving the 3rd coupled axle which is fitted with traction tyres (review in this months RM). Not sure about the 5MT, but both are due in the shops mid June according to Farish.

Thanks for the replies,I keep looking at Hattons site in the hope that some of the pre order locos might actually be in stock.
