Title: Preparing for a new Layout.
Post by: longbridge on June 09, 2012, 08:58:31 AM
Starting to get my shed ready for a new layout that will be built above my US N Scale layout.

I have decided that my love of British steam that I grew up with is like a flame that will never be snuffed out, I have decided that it will be a OO Gauge layout of a preserved railway with small locos and short trains, eg converted goods wagons and Guards Vans to transport passengers.

Of course I will continue with my N Scale layout at the same time which is my main project but will start to accumulate locos, rolling stock, track and card kits for my OO layout.

First job is to get the woodwork done and repaint the walls, the way I look at it I will have the best of both worlds

Hi Dave,

Sounds very interesting. I must say these double deck layouts are getting very popular. Maybe I should have taken out a patent on it. ;D

Does seem to be the rage.

Have thought along the same lines myself. But having just moved I now have "real building" to do as SWMBO has described it. So all layout work now held up until have relaid the floors in both bedrooms. It started out as a couple of squeaky boards but sorted ended up being easier to replace the whole lot. LOL

Did the same at the top of the stairs. Ended up replacing the whole lot, trying to avoid water/gas pipes and leccy cables.

I think that is a good move Dave. You will always love the steam thing and you should get the running quality you are after in OO.
