Title: Procor PFA wagons?
Post by: Jim Martin on June 19, 2023, 08:03:13 AM
Has anyone ever made a kit for the Procor 4-wheel PFAs, like this one: https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/P-Tops-codes/PFA-2-axle-intermodal-carriers/i-ZRRBjWQ/A? The C-Rail website includes pictures of their MoD containers loaded onto one (https://shop.c-rail-intermodal.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=70_77&product_id=89) but I don't recall them ever making one and I wonder if it was bashed from one of their Cawoods's PFAs.

Thanks

Jim

PG Models made a kit from lead free pewter. Unfortunately they closed down in May 2020.

I think the side door MoD container was from BH Enterprises.

Short of 3d printing, I suspect rebuilding the ends of the C=Rail PFA kit would be the way to getting a model of these wagons today.

Thanks! I bought a load of CVR(T) derivatives when PG was closing down. I have absolutely no recollection of a PFA though.

As you say, something based on the C=Rail kit is probably the way to go.

Not quite the same wagon - look at the profile on the buffer beams.

Hi all,

Yes - Some PFA wagons are different as they were done by different makers to differnt design codes

PFA (DRSL) - 2 Axle Container Flat Wagon
Number range 92703 - 92864
Built by Standard Wagon between 1986 & 1987.
Originally built for Cawoods. (44 renumbered for British Gypsum traffic)

Refs - see links for details.

DRSL - https://gingespotting.smugmug.com/Wagons/P-TOPS-Code/PFA-DRSL/ (https://gingespotting.smugmug.com/Wagons/P-TOPS-Code/PFA-DRSL/)

BGL - http://gingespotting.smugmug.com/Wagons/P-TOPS-Code/PFA-BGL/ (http://gingespotting.smugmug.com/Wagons/P-TOPS-Code/PFA-BGL/)

If you really mean Procor PFA wagons - they are different again!

More information on the Accurascale website

https://www.accurascale.com/collections/pfa-2-axle-container-flat-wagon (https://www.accurascale.com/collections/pfa-2-axle-container-flat-wagon)

The PG Models kit produces the slope topped end version as shown in the prhotos previously added.

The =C=RAIL= kit produces the flatt topped end version
