Title: satlink
Post by: bluedepot on June 18, 2023, 09:51:40 AM
which models have been made in n gauge in satlink livery?

I have a farish guv, a peco ferry open (a tube wagon?), and now the ngs ferry van.

are there any others?

I just wondered if I should be adding to my collection!

I just like livery and also I have 4 fairly long engineers' sidings on my layout and like to swap over the parked up rolling stock from time to time

cheers

Satlink colours were Rail red and warning panel yellow. They faded quite badly to pale yellow and pink.

When searching be aware that some of the images in the Flickr link above are of wagons in EWS gold and maroon.

If you're happy to repaint some models, there are further choices available.
Former SR pillbox brake vans received Satlink along with standard LNER/BR 20t vans (both available from Peco or Farish). You'll also find VDA, loriot, bogie well and Bogie bolster D (BDA) in the livery (all NGS kits). There's also the option of repainting one of Dapol's 6 wheel milk tanks.

Satlink was used by the signalling engineers (SAT = Signal And Telegraph) to transport stores and equipment around the network. (There was a similar Civil link for use by the civil engineers). Their fleet was mostly open wagons with a few vans. The Western Region made good use of the livery with the Midland Region following a close second; Both marking their regional ownership with either "Satlink Western" or "Satlink L.M" branding. It never really caught on in the Eastern, Southern or Scottish regions.
