Title: N Gauge Resource - Updates/Help Needed
Post by: carderrail on June 13, 2023, 11:27:44 AM
All,

Hopefully some of you have noticed some significant updates to the N Gauge Resource website https://www.ngauge.org/ (https://www.ngauge.org/).

I thought I would start this thread to give updates, ask for feedback and also ask for help on some items.

The work ongoing at the moment is to create a section for the N Gauge Society items and also seperate our those produced by Dapol/Bachmann for the NGS and then released for their own markets.

I have been asked about Lima/Wrenn/Trix/Hornby Minitrix but their stories are so complex with some items identified by multiple numbers and unknown release dates. Trix/Lima Locomotives and wagons are feasible but the lima coaching stock is a mire and has been reseached by others in great depth... so just not sure on this unless I take the best information possible and put exlaimers....

Another section due soon is Peco Wagons - have been collating information on these for a while - again may not be 100% accurate as information is not always good.

Regards

Tony

Not sure exactly what you are after, Tony, but this site may be of interest if you are unaware of it as it contains many Peco catalogues.

I'm sure the information on the NGS items is out there and maybe just the right questions need to be asked :hmmm:

I can recommend these two volumes from Engee Publishing, £8.95 each, really helpful:

Those are really useful - I must have about evevy catalogue and review produced... I think my concern is any Trix/Wrenn/Lima information would never be great or 100% validated - do I bother or achive the best possible but caveat the information?

Thanks

Title: N Gauge Resource - Farish Postal Set
Post by: carderrail on June 13, 2023, 05:17:15 PM
All,

One missing piece of information I have is on the Graham Farish 8549 Class 47 Diesel Royal Mail Train Set.

Does anyone have an original set and can advise the running numbers on the coaches please?

Thanks

Tony

I have owned one of the sets from new, it was the first n gauge I ever had and I loved it. I still have the rolling stock and would not part with it even if I do not run it any more.

The running numbers on the mk1's is 92212, it is the same on both. The running number of the TPO is 80387.

Hi there

I'm a bit late to this discussion but as the NGS Helpline coordinator and an N scale modeller since 1971 I have good records and knowledge.

Let me know what you are missing.

Bob

I have all of the N Gauge Now 'directories'.
As far as verifying any information, unless sourced from the manufacturer I would caveat any data. Even then, there could be the odd 'typo' in a manufacturer's catalogue.
Being an online resource, errors could be pointed out and corrected far more easily than any hard copy
