So, bit of luck on FleaBay this last week...

A very reasonable price, it pays to be a bit cheeky, and it runs beautifully! Very smooth.
It also fits through all the existing tunnel portals on Brookline. This does mean that I may be looking at a third set of removable bases for a OO look. I'll have to think about that.
Fairlie big, but maybe too much so..............

Was it this one I dropped my hat in, or was it the other end?
That model looks great! Certainly motivation to change to 009!
Ffestiniog, last Tuesday:

Cool! Looks like you're having a great time George. It's been a while since we've been to the Ffestiniog. Glad you're both enjoying the UK.
The Bachmann Double Fairlie is a model of the orginal FR locos which are smaller in profile than those running today, even those nominally 'originals' have been rebuilt to a larger loading gauge since Preservation. As such the model is smaller than you might expect.

That's interesting to know. Thanks.
It works for me, means I don't have to build new tunnels!
