Title: Suitable camera for cab ride view.Part 2
Post by: EssexN on May 08, 2023, 05:34:30 PM
I came across this topic listed earlier and had the usual problem of clearances etc.
I came across this solution in the form of HD 1080 P Eyewear Video Recorder. To use these requires an element of "Kit bashing" and with care iy is possible to break these glasses down into a video camera that will fit inside a MK1 or MK3 TYPE of Coach. The wiring from the battery travels from one arm of the frame to the other arm over the lens, and this become obvious as you strip the glasses down.I have prepared a drawing and this is included. You can down load this images via the USB CABLE supplied into video editing and I am working my way through free software called Shotcut. i would to show you the results if some call explain what format the Forum rquires

I'd love to see the results of your filming as I have too have been searching for a solution that would fit within clearances or in a coach. People have done cab filming in the past, and there are threads on here about it, but to me all the options so far have had lots of complications and I am keen to find a simple solution that works. If you make a movie, why not put it on Youtube and then provide a link here? I find that's the easiest way for me.

The forum doesn't take videos itself, so the easiest thing is to stick it on YouTube and then embed it in a post.

When creating a post there is a YouTube button, below the Italic text button - if you hit that, it inserts the required tags into your post with the cursor in the correct place for pasting in the link to the video on YouTube.

I've seen these advertised and they look as if they should sit on a flat wagon. I've no idea whether that is correct or if they are any good, but I thought I might give it a go one day. Anybody else tried one?

It doesn't give any sizes for these on the ebay ad so you can't tell if it would fit in clearances or in a coach. Would it be a good idea to see if the solution proposed in the original post works before widening the thread to other options? I'm not trying to be awkward but this happens a lot on the forum!

It'd be extremely handy to know precisely where the lens is - i.e. is it on the end of the stick that's not shown in the photo, or on the bottom or the other side that are also not shown?
If it is indeed on the end, then it could serve - the cross-section dimensions can at least be extrapolated from the size of the USB-A plug.

I upload videos to Flickr and then use the 'Share' option to post it on the forum using the BBC code
