Saw this wonderful game bird in our garden this morning.
I'm sure it is not a Pheasant. We get lots of them. Females and males. And they all have long tails. This one looks like it could be a Partridge, and if so that's a red listed species and a keeper (so long as the cat doesn't get it).
Anyone like to help identify it?

I think you are a pheasant - a female which aren't as OTT as the blokes:

Hmmm. Missing a lot of tail feathers though, but I see what you are saying.
We have loads around us, usually with longer tails than this bird, and they are usually darker plumage too.
May be an interloper from south of the River ;)
