There's an animal rescue in the West Midlands, Fur and Feathers, that's having a rough time.
They've been rescuing animals, cats, birds, horses, you name it, for ten years. All staff are volunteers. They've been renting land for the last ten years. They rescue hundreds of animals a year, a lot of which are cats. They have a few resident cats who have health issues that prohibit rehoming.
Last year, they were broken into. Cages, shelters, sheds were broken into, and a number of resident cats escaped in terror. They eventually found all the missing animals, but it took over a week. The local community and volunteers helped repair and rebuild. Shortly after this, they found out the land they were renting had been earmarked for development. They've been hunting for suitable land since then. They were evicted this weekend. A piece of land has been found, but they need to purchase, not rent, to prevent this issue recurring.
I have had some contact with them last year, had a home visit in preparation for possibly getting rescue cats this year.
