Title: Anybody remember Ashmelton?
Post by: Platy767 on January 09, 2023, 10:35:50 AM
Ashmelton still exists and there is a post about it with photos on https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/175547-ashmelton/ (https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/175547-ashmelton/)

My current build has a track plan based on Ashmelton (and of course, hundreds of other similar BLTs)

Ashmelton was featured as a centrefold in RM Aug 1980.

Oh wow! What a find, and to think it was on its way to the skip.

It sounds like it's found a worthy owner.

I like how one contributor in the Rmweb thread said  "Preservation comes in many forms"

I occasionally google for Ashmelton because the August 1980 article was nice, but limited, and I often wondered if there was other info that came to light. For example, I didn't know the fiddle yard was behind with a kickback siding.

When I saw the title in the 2mm Finescale forum I thought it might have been a new model, but no, it's the oldie, but a goldie.
