I have a set of journals from start of 2014 right up to present date with the exception of issue 3 2021 (in which I had an article published so am keeping that one). Like a load of NGauge Now mags they are just taking up space and gathering dust. I'm not sure the local Model Railway Clubs would want them (I will ask, though) so sadly, unless anyone has sensible ideas, they'll end up in the recycling box :(. They are far too heavy to post/courier unless someone is willing to pay that cost.
I am not sure which one it is, but either the NYMR or K&WVR have a shop where they sell old railway and modelling magazines. Maybe a preserved railway in your part of the country might be interested - if transportation could be sorted out? ???
I put an ad in the local freecycle site for anyone who wanted a load of old Railway magazines, someone collected them. Anything similar available near you?
Andy
Thanks David and Andy,
I'll check those out. I'm not sure why I just accumulated them rather than just put them out once read. My monthly RM gets passed on to a fellow modeller but I know his missus would go ape if he accepted this lot!!

Burn them to make heat.
I did a life cycle assessment of recycled wood about 20 years ago and one of the best things you can do with it is generate heat.
Didn't go down well with the politicians at the time.
But if Drax can do it, so can @Newportnobby (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=264) , especially if you get a carbon monoxide alarm.

Burning wood to make heat - are we going back to the Stone Age ?

Do you have a better idea?
I'm trying to be upbeat but...
Where do you think the newspapers and magazines go that you recycle? Ah yes, a Malaysian uncontrolled dump, and when that route was closed, a Turkish one.
Coloured inks stop the paper going to make recycled office paper.
Newspaper contains too much lignin.
Even quality office paper can only be recycled six times before the fibre length is too short to make quality paper.
They might end up as Andrex, of course.
Or cardboard boxes for your trains to arrive in.
It's about time we took responsibility for our rubbish and stopped trans-boundary shipment of waste. And I don't mean shipping it from Lancashire to Yorkshire landfills either!
At least burning it recovers some of the calorific value in the material and benefits Mick.

Ahem - I live in a small bungalow with no fireplaces, unlike Bob who lives in a mansion with huge stone fireplaces where he'd get the benefit of burning them. All I could do would be to buy a small garden incinerator and burn the lot. The heat benefit would be somewhat temporary and, more to the point, annoy the neighbours and..................................I'd likely contrive to burn my dwelling to the ground :worried: :-[

Hadn't realised you'd been round. I must have been out at the time riding with Lady Belvoir.

I can see that would be a social disbenefit for all of us. Who would you find to put you up?
Perhaps gifting the journals isn't a bad idea after all :beers:

Well, when I say 'dwelling' I mean a rolled up newspaper (no septic tank involved) and licking t'road clean wit' tongue and being sliced in two wit' bread knife come into play

Toilet paper ? :-*
Too shiny. You'd make more mess than you'd clean up :uneasy:
It's a shame you didn't post this a couple of weeks ago as I'd have taken all the NGauge Now off of you at Stafford or Wigan!

Makes me think you have researched this possibility in detail :o
I'd be interested in the N Gauge Now magazines but I'm probably a long way from you — Gateshead, just across the Tyne from Newcastle. I might even be willing to pay the postage if I knew how many N Gauge Now issues you have and what the postage or courier charge would be.
