Title: Railpedia.com
Post by: kirky on May 20, 2012, 11:12:21 AM
Has anyone had any luck getting into Railpedia?

I ask because it's advertised in BRM and I'm wondering what it is? At the moment it's asking me to come back later due to the assertion they have  'been overwhelmed  by the number of people signing up in the hour' it's been like that since 7:30 this morning!
Cheers

I got in just now (1835) - one does have to opt for the google translate option unless you are fluent in Dutch.

I think you have gone to railpedia.nl, not railpedia.com. They may be different websites as railpedia.com is still showing a grey page.

Managed to get onto the site. Its like wikipedia for railways. At the moment, there is not much on it as there are only 11 pages. I did a search for Brighton Belle and a a page on the Wirral Railway came up!

Will be interesting to see how it develops.

Got to admit, Wikipedia is the first port of call for me and Railpedia will have to be very good for me to go there first. Still, it is in its infancy and it could turn out to be a useful resource. As with most things, it's success depends on the number and quality of the contributions.

I still can't get on there.  I hope they can get the work done on their server soon.

I too look on wikipedia first, and then google for photo's.  Hopefully everyone can/will add content to it soon.

I've just got on. The Dutch site looks better (apart from the minor issue that I can't read Dutch)

I might have been using the wrong link. This was the link i was using (from googling Railpedia). So I may or may not have been on the wrong site. www.railpedia.com (http://www.railpedia.com) does not work for me either.
