Rapido as a forum - How about Revolution Trains??
Vote here please
Assuming the proposal is to set up a sub-forum on here for Revolution, can you add a voting option for "What's wrong with the existing Revolution section we already have?" please... ???

PLD took the words out of my mouth. If we're talking about Revolution having their own forum then, no, I don't think they should, why would they? Dapol Digest is a disaster, and they've got a lot more staff than Revolution.
If you mean a sub-forum on here, then they already have one. I can see why you'd not realise, there are 8,495 sub-forums. It also perhaps would be better moved out of "crowdfunding", given that isn't their MO any more.
Sorry, don't understand the question.
???
I'm not sure why a poll was needed, but I'll certainly change some things on the forum, regarding boards and sub boards. I've never liked the Knowledge Bank idea. I can understand its use, but I just don't think it works.
I am lost. Is the question really related to Revolution or to Rapido?
Besides that, I would like to suggest a wider change.
Within the directory 'N Gauge Locos and Rolling Stock Reviews', I would add a sub-directory 'Revolution'. Sub-directories 'Rapido' and 'Sonic' are already there.
The directory 'Crowdfunding' could be renamed 'New suppliers'. Under this directory, two new sub-directories would be created 'Rapido' and 'Sonic' to discuss the novelties announced.
Then I would also propose to reorganise the sub-directory 'New suppliers > Revolution Trains':
- delete all sub-directories (there is one for each of the early products) and move all related topics to the parent directory 'Revolution Trains';
- move the topic 'RevolutioN Trains - 1938 Stock' (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=54844 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=54844)), which is currently in the directory 'N Gauge Discussion', to the sub-directory 'New suppliers > Revolution Trains'.
I hope this is helpful.
And here's the problem with running a forum; I disagree with that. IMO there are far too many sub-forums on here, having two for Revolution, one under reviews and one under "new suppliers" seems mad. Where do Dapol and Farish fit into it? You need "established suppliers" too. When do a brand transition to established? Are Revolution really still new?
Frankly I'd be happy with "n gauge discussion", "non n gauge discussion" and nothing else! But then I use the latest posts all the time, and search if I need something. I'm sure I'm in a minority there.
I do agree with Tank that the knowledge bank is overkill. There are just too many places stuff could go; so you have to search, and if you're doing that you don't need the categories.

You have the point.
A possibility would be to move everything under 'Crowdfunding' to 'N Gauge Locos and Rolling Stock Reviews' with the following amendments:
- delete all sub-directories from Revolution Trains;
- keep under 'N Gauge Discussion' the announcement of the novelties;
- and rename 'N Gauge Locos and Rolling Stock Reviews' into 'N Gauge Locos and Rolling Stock' to extend the discussion to the work in progress of the manufacturers. So not just reviews of products already released.
This may be the easiest.
And I agree on the withdrawal of the knowledge bank. The topics should be dispatched in other directories such as 'Scenery/Landscaping', 'DCC', etc.

So do I. I only click on "Forum" if I know there's an existing topic that I want post to.
I think that if there is a desire to categorise stuff then all the manufacturers should be in a Manufacturer forum, with Chat, Reviews, & It's broke what happened?, as a sub forum for each manufacturer. Right now if someone announces a new loco the general chatter could be posted almost anywhere, and after a while any reviews are meant to be in a completely different part of the forum as would be any "fixing it" type questions.
But I think the first question that needs to be answered is how do people use the forum? Do you just read new posts, do you look through various forums every day, etc, etc.

John P

I think the first question that needs answering here is by the OP to explain in a bit more detail what he is actually proposing and the rationale for it...
It really is a bit disappointing when it is by a Moderator and several members (including other Mods) have found it necessary to click the "
what the **** **** are you on about?" feedback option, and even the site owner's not sure of the point of it...
I must admit that I see no point to it. Revolution have their own website, and we have subsections here.
Rapido Trains also have their website and Andrew Hardy of Rapido and Ben/Mike of RevolutioN have a prescence on this forum. I'm quite sure if they want something different they'd ask.
I've lost the will to live!
the idea behind my suggestion was to allow a focus for Revolution for members .
we need to do some reorganisation as per message above - if funds allow, a new version of the board may be implemented by @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) .
Congratulations, far from explaining what you meant, I would imagine everyone is even more confused by your posts.
???
We don't need to invest in a new board. This problem has been chased entirely by you...! A tidy up of what is there is what is needed. I'm happy to help redistribute some threads in a bid to provide a streamlined forum, I do think it's a barrier to new members, and threads like this really don't help.
I assume what you were proposing was a sub-forum (or board) for Revolution, not realising there already is one...? If that's not what you meant then I really don't have a clue!

So the cryptic poll set up by a moderator to decide if a new forum was required for Revolution that already existed was actually to allow focus on Rapido and you've lost the will to live?
Possibly a contender for the most baffling thread and follow up clarification ever posted!
