Title: Rapido Peak announced
Post by: Brian-1c on September 09, 2022, 01:58:19 PM
I saw this at Key Model World today, but have not seen anything elsewhere, even on Rapido's UK web site.

Seems to be a secret, or maybe Key Model World let slip something still on embargo ?

Oh well, I'll have a couple of the green ones please !

I hope it will be very popular.

Wonder if we'll see a rapid counter announcement from Bachmann/Farish??

Wouldn't be surprised if they've not got pone up their sleeve!! Mind you now Steve Purves has jumped ship to Accurascale they might be struggling a bit.

Cheers

Neal

P.S. Anyone want to buy some Farish Peaks???

Not one for me but a brilliant announcement.

I'm shocked at the lack of reaction to this  :(

I thought that forum members would be all over this by now.

Magic. That's the Thames-Clyde sorted when the 45s appear.  :beers:

I hope this is correct. I will have one or two. I would be happy to test samples for them on my layout.😊

It's been taken off now, the link will no longer work. Also deleted from another forum I posted on, with commercial interests.

Oh dear, I think it slipped past an embargo !

I expect it to be announced now tomorrow, at the start of TINGS and it will then be all over the place.

This has pleased me and I expect RevolutioN will be announcing whatever 1st generation DMU they have planned as well.

Tomorrow may be expensive.

After I shared this link to the two biggest N gauge groups I was subsequently told about the embargo.

Rapido will not be at TINGS this year so I guess they originally planned to do the announcement there, but even so still want to make a splash.

I deleted the posts out of respect to them, but if the above link no longer works it seems the company asked Model World to delete it as well.

That all being said, I am thrilled for those who have waited so long to get a new one of these and actually I hope Bachfar do NOT have an advanced design for one in the works.

Rapido deserve a shot IMHO and much like the Dapol 59, Bachfar shouldn't be able to "sit" on a class for so long to the exclusion of all others.

All my locos so far have been either Dapol or Farish with one recent exception - the Kato 800. My purchasing plans for next year so far are quite different. A Sonic large prairie and a Rapido Peak. How times change. Don't worry I won't allow these planned items on the layout at the same time, that would be so wrong.

I like to do things proper on my N gauge layout. I only run locos and stock that are appropriate for the location of my layout. I also only run locos of the same era together. So  the prairie would run with my 1959 stock and the 45/46 will only allowed in blue livery when running with stock suitable for the 1970s. A small number of green peaks were seen in the area but really blue livery is the appropriate one. In fact I need two blue ones - a pre tops one with headcode to represent early 1970s and run with Westerns and a Tops one with either dominos or removed headcode box to run with 50s and HSTs.

Don't forget that the named 46 was in green livery until about 1973 IIRC and somewhere I have seen a photo of it at Plymouth in green SYP livery.
Brilliant loco choice. Will go well with the Revolution first gen DMU I hope.

i only think of diesels being green.  preferably without yellow panels on the front.

More details can now be found here:
https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/174139-n-gauge-class-44-with-45-46-to-follow/ (https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/174139-n-gauge-class-44-with-45-46-to-follow/)

First the class 44 will be produced.
The process has just started one month ago and thus is still at an early stage.

It'll be either D4 sye or D5 fye for me, though I think the sye really suits the peaks.

I think my Farish one will cover my class 44 requirements. Probably be up for adding another 45 to the roster though.
