Title: Dapol Captain Tom Class 66 apparently ready
Post by: zwilnik on May 30, 2022, 04:29:04 PM
I just had an email from Dapol telling me the Class 66 Captain Tom I'd pre-ordered years ago is now ready to purchase and ship.

A bit late for me unfortunately as the tax + fees to take delivery of it here would be crippling (moving abroad + Brexit since I pre-ordered it) so I've asked for the order to be cancelled. More for the rest of you :)

Yeah I had the same email too.

Not sure if I'll bother now, it's very much missed the boat.

Still worthwhile IMO - NHS Charities Together still get £40 from every sale!

My Captain  Tom has arrived! Shame I'm not there to greet him. Never mind it's something to look forward to when I get home.

Yes, I cancelled mine, they still sent me an invoice, but two yrs is a bit much when nothing was said at point of order about delays!

I'll await developments as to whether they try to force me to take it. However I've already added £40 to a recent NHS charity donation. If dapol can force me to pay up the NHS will have double the benefit.

@GAD (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=7944)  They can't force you.  They won't send it out without you paying first.

If I were actively running British N I'd probably follow up my expression of interest but given it'll just sit in its box in a crate of stuff there's no incentive now.  NHS got a donation from me via the Hornby model (which also sits in its box in a crate...)

I tried many times whilst Capt. Tom was still alive to pre-order, and even tried emailing Dapol all without success.
Like others, I have donated to the NHS charity by other methods so, for me, it is too late such a shame.
Cheers.

Having seen a picture of the finished item it looks good, but I wonder if the orange is too dark; a similar fate to "Pride of GBRf".
