Title: Train travel via Belgium - less than 24 hours - Covid Testing etc.
Post by: Globibahn on February 04, 2022, 09:32:57 PM
Hi all!

I'd like to travel by train to Germany from England. The proposed route is London to Brussels Eurostar, then to Cologne by Thalys and then onwards to Dresden.

Re. the transit through Belgium, which is only a couple of hours duration (my first sleep will be Cologne):

I'm double vaccinated and boosted, can I just take a Lateral Flow the day before travel? Also I don't think I need to do a Belgian Passenger Locator Form. Am I mistaken? Do I still need to do lateral flow after leaving Belgium?

I believe UK is a red zone non-EU country.

Clarification much appreciated! ???

Hi,

You will need to complete the Passenger Locator Form.

This is a quote from the first link.

"you are travelling to Belgium by train or bus from a country outside the EU or the Schengen area (e.g. Eurostar from the UK);"

And you'll need a negative test but I can't see where it says how long before your trip you can take it.

I flew through Brussels last September and the airline staff in the US were handing out paper PLF's to anyone who hadn't already filled one in. I expect that the Eurostar staff will be doing similar checks.

Regards,

John P

Ah smashing thank you. The instructions are hard to focus on as there are so many permutations! :worried:
