Title: Find Tomix power couplings?
Post by: RBTKraisee on December 13, 2021, 08:01:48 PM
Where can you buy the power couplings that Tomix uses on their Shinkansen's?

Do you have some sort of exploded parts diagram with a reference number for them?  That's probably the easiest way to find them if they're available as a spare part. If they are available I would imagine Japanese shops will be the most likely sources.

Maybe they're in this list?

[edit] There are long and short "Electricity couplers" on page 2 - are those what you need? If they are then looks like they're low on stock and you're limited in the number you can buy.

Those are for the E001 "Shikishima" set (not a Shinkansen).

Tomix list half-a-dozen different types: https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/parts/parts_category22.html (https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/parts/parts_category22.html) so it would be useful to know exactly which model they're needed for.

That's really helpful guys, thank you!

:thankyousign:

It's not for an existing model.   While I have a JR 500 Shinkansen coming for Xmas  :claphappy: I want to use power couplings on my APT-P model - I just couldn't find any source.

Thanks again!

Ross.

Will they fit the APT model?

This one is my own design (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=50131.msg738133#msg738133), so I can probably make it fit :)

If nothing else, it will at least give me a good idea for how they managed it.

While Tomix use this approach for connecting separate coaches, I'm especially interested to figure out if anything like their approach might be used on the APT's common bogies too.

There are a few sources of power-transmitting couplings, Peho spring to mind. No idea whether they'd be any better/more available than the Tomix ones though.

Thanks, I'll look them up too :)
