Watching the Bahcmann release announcement and surprisingly they have announced both Class 03 and 04 being DCC ready. Hope this means we will see a Class 08 in the future.
Jon, I think '0s' would have been appropriate in your post to avoid confusion in the descriptions of locos.

Don't know what you are talking about. :D

I wonder if the new DCC decoder is a new Bachmann product or rebadged from another company.
I have both the 03 and 04 in green and If I could get a wired version of the micro decoder that would be the way forward for me.
I don't think the new locos will have lights etc.
lots of $$ in price jump from previous non dcc models

From the photos on RMWeb, it looks suspiciously like a rebadged Zimo MX616 - which is around £32. A lot less than the £45 that Farish are asking.
There is an upcoming MX615 which will be even smaller.

These locos are not actually all that difficult to hardwire a chip into, nor is the 08, but great news for those not confident enough and shows the change in take up of DCC if they are now looping back round to upgrade previous models.

Maybe Farish might be using some of the PCB design features that the NGS have with their forth coming 0-6-0 Hunslet (for members only) which, I believe, will have the DCC chip built into the PCB but will run DC as well? Just a thought... :hmmm:

Not at all. Farish stated that a microDCC chip will be required.
