Maybe a strange question but it is for the train room! I've had a couple in the past and they've been low powered and quite frankly pretty rubbish! Does anybody use one that they'd recommend? In my head the charger would be mounted somewhere and I'd just grab the small hand held hoover easily whenever I needed it.
Any thoughts/links?
Thanks
Hi Paul,
Not sure what to recommend, as I have tried to find a good one, but one to avoid is the Woodland Scenic one. I bought one and it was rubbish >:(
All best wishes

:beers:
I would recommend the Russell Hobbs 19860 I use but no one seems to have stock. Maybe that shows how long it's lasted :D

Thank you. I'll keep this in mind if I cant find a decent battery one.
I've got one which is also crap. I've gone back to using the household cleaner.
I bought one of these 3 months ago and have been surprised how good it is:
OZOY Cordless Handheld Vacuum... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08H85LK4H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08H85LK4H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
Definitely far better suction than the original Dustbusters. But that's not saying much!
I use a G-Tech hand held which came with the upright cleaner as a package. I have to give it back clean to SWMBO when I've finished with it, but it is excellent in my experience; not sure if these can be purchased separately from G-Tech or other places, but maybe on eBay etc?
Cheers

We've got a Dyson V6 (IIRC) Trigger. Probably a bit extravagant solely for railway room use, but it's a good little vacuum. I did replace the battery as the life was poor, but that was after several years.

Do you want it for cleaning the room or the actual layout?
I know it's not a battery vacuum but this is the best option that I have come across for cleaning the actual layout. I have used one for many years and the small soft brushes enable you to clean around the finest detail without causing damage.

Ideally both but mainly the room. Drilling dust, shavings, the usual stuff whilst building really.
WHAT NOT TO GET.
This is my thingy, marketed by Kambrook, which I suspect is a purely Australian brand, but I'm sure there'll be identical units sold around the world.
I got it for vacuuming the layout, and it's bloody useless.
I use it now for picking up spot dirt under plant pot stands and stuff in the house I can't be bothered moving, but it's hard pushed to even do that.

Similar to Nick, I use a Dyson DC30. It happily sits on charge until needed and will run for a good 5-6 minutes between charges.
This was cascaded from home use when my SO replaced it with a Shark Handheld (which I am looking forward to being cascaded in due course as well - it's a very capable machine).
Best
Scott.
