Post by: Hightower on August 21, 2021, 09:32:02 AM
Just seen these appear on another forum. From the filming of the new Mission Impossible film apparently. Quite spectacular!

Great to see that practical special effects still rule, though I suspect CGI elements will be added in later.

How many people have seen that happen on their model railways?  :D

For those that Faceache and barge pole appear in the same sentence, heres the you tube link:

It was a mock up with a diesel engine, note no boiler explosion.

Be interested to know how it was powered and how many cameras they wrecked!

There was a still in the Times the other day.

It's blindingly obvious to me  that the loco is on a country lane not a railway ...

On the B B C news one morning they showed the clip and said that just in case there were any railway fans watching the train was a complete mockup and NO REAL LOCO was smashed ,though they have used a real one for some shots .

It was on tracks... read somewhere an ex gdr with everything stripped out and a diesel engine

Yes, it was a track bed and tracks laid across the fields to the edge of the quarry.

I expect it'll all look very different when the film's released.
