I thought for a moment I had overslept and it was April the first  :smiley-laughing:

remember the days when one or two prototypes would be built and tested before the main order was signed.
obviously someone was in too much of a rush.

it sadly reflects the way things are these days over so many procurement programs.

All being built by general Dynamics ( in USA ) ISTR

"However, only 14 of the turretless Ares variant, which are manufactured by General Dynamics, the American aerospace and defence company, have so far been delivered.

The programme to deliver a new family of armoured fighting vehicles was decided in 2010, with 589 different variants of the vehicle ordered in 2014.

The vision was for the tanks to replace the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) armoured fighting vehicles, but it has been plagued by problems ever since and is four years behind schedule to be deployed."

Whoever was involved in procuring/ordering these is the tanker (please substitue a "W" where appropriate) :veryangry:

I vaguely seem to remember we had a little firm here in UK who used to make vehicles for the army,
now what was the name  :hmmm:

that's it, ALVIS.

made a number of very good vehicles, off the top of my head Saladin / Saracen / Salamander [chassis only IIRC] Scimitar / Scorpion / Spartan / Striker / Sultan / Samson / Samaritan to name just a few.

they worked,
were produced on time / budget as far as I know,

First hundred built in Spain not USA , the rest to be made in UK and are supposed to be delivered up to 2026. Deliivery of one was shown on Supertruckers season 2 episode 3. Why does the media call anything with tracks a tank?

Because journalism has become a very lazy craft - why carry out your own investigation/research when you can just copy other's work from the WWW?!
