Title: Silly but fun
Post by: Old Crow on March 04, 2021, 09:19:34 PM
Currently building a layout with Kato track. Just for fun I bought a loop of their six inch radius track to see what might run on it.
Minitrix Dock Tanks are quite happy and to see them scooting around this tiny layout took me right back to my first train sets.
I might include this as an industrial spur...Just the thing for Piggot's Black Pudding factory on "Grimley!" my Northern layout.

Yeah, that radius offers a lot of new possibilities. I'm currently planning a Swiss layout which is to sit on my desk. Just waiting for lockdown to ease here in Germany so that I can get the ply I need.
Please keep us posted.

Best,
Michael

Tomix 103mm radius:

I was surprised what would actually run on them.

Probably a Tomix tram chassis, have a look on the Youtube page, I've listed each appearing item.

Quite remarkable!

Doesn't surprise me at all, they're all running on chassis with short bogies having plenty of "swivel", ie. chassis intended for trams  :D  The old German V100 has short wheelbase bogies and would be designed for Minitrix or Fleischmann R1  (8" ish) so it's probably on its limit.
